Incredible: A pile of garbage covers a unique sports car for 50 years

The blue sports car was hidden from the outside world under the rubbish

Old garages and abandoned sheds: we’ve found cars in very remote places. Sometimes they literally have to be dug up. Just like this 1965 Corvette that was found in a collector’s garage under a big pile of garbage. The unique sports car was hidden under the trash for decades. Fortunately, the car was found 50 years after it was put in the garage.

Blue Corvette from 1965

This unique blue Corvette left a garage for the last time in 1984. After purchase, the sports car was on the road for only three years. The owner then emptied the gas tank completely, took out the battery and loosened the wheel covers, which he put in a bag and placed it in the car. Then he locked it and walked away. To this day, it is unclear why the man left a three-year-old sports car in the garage.

Unique find

Speedy’s Towing & Recovery from St. Louisville, Ohio, found the unique sports car after the owner died. The once bright blue car was taken out of the garbage transferred to Phil Stalling Classic Cars where it was cleaned and placed on eBay for $50,000 (more than 43,000 euros!).

Current condition of the sports car

The advertisement indicates that the car has some rust on the frame. It also has a completely original body (with a slightly damaged hardtop) and some small dents and damage. According to the advertisement, the exterior of the car does not need to be replaced. The wheel covers were removed from the bag and reattached to the wheels. However, the family of the owner has not found any of the original paperwork, original keys or the soft top.

Covered under the waste

The original owner’s daughter didn’t even know the Corvette was in the garage until a close friend of her father pointed it out to her. “The people she hired to clean the garage later reported that they had found a Corvette in the garage, said the new owner of the car. “You hear things like this happening, but when it happens to you, it’s very different,” says Stalling of Phil Stalling Classic Cars. “This is one of the best car finds we’ve had.”
