Trip to supermarket ends with 15,000 bees

Helpful tip: never leave your window open in New Mexico.

A man in Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA got the fright of his life after a boring drive to the supermarket. Due to the hot climate of the arid state, he thought it would be a good idea to leave one of the windows of his borrowed Buick open. When he returned, he tossed his groceries into the back seat without looking and went merrily on his way back. Only a few seconds later did he realize that the car was full of bees. In a panic, the man then called the emergency number.

Coincidence

Removing bees from a dilapidated Buick is not normally a job for the fire department, but the driver got lucky. Coincidentally, one of the firefighters was a beekeeper. Firefighter Jesse Johnson was off duty at the time, but showed up anyway to deal with the situation. The Buick was parked on a busy road so it needed to be removed as quickly as possible.

Johnson spent two hours deploying his special equipment and 10 years of experience to carefully guide the insects out of the car. In the end, an estimated 15,000 bees were removed from the Buick. Other than the driver and a security guard at the supermarket, fortunately no one was stung.
