Porsche expands list of Taycan models to seventeen

The Porsche Taycan has added some additional models to its collection. With that, the list of Taycans now consists of no less than 17 examples.

Anyone who has ever looked at the shelves of Oreo cookies or Coca Cola beverages in the supermarket will probably have been amazed at how incredibly many flavors those two brands hurl into the world. In doing so, some people may come to the conclusion that it’s too many options. The folks at Porsche have apparently looked at that and thought, “We can do that too!

In fact, Porsche has added three new versions of the Taycan to its lineup. The Taycan 4, GTS and GTS ST can also be found the showroom from now on. This now brings the list to a total of seventeen(!) variations of the Taycan alone. There are so many that the car has actually been given its own subdivision: Sedan, Sport Turismo, and Cross Turismo. The 4 and the GTS fall into that first category; the GTS ST is a Sport Turismo.

The GTS sits high on the list in terms of power. With launch control and push to pass, you have 700 hp of electric power in the GTS. That power is only available for a limited time though, but you get to see that with a nice countdown timer on the dashboard. This version does 0 to 100 in just 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour.

The Taycan 4 cannot match that performance, with a paltry 435 horsepower. The 4 is basically just an updated version of the standard one, but with an extra electric motor up front. That adds 80 kilograms of extra weight, but there is no noticeable difference in performance. The main advantage of this model is in its range. The Taycan 4 can drive (with the right battery) 643 kilometers without recharging.

The GTS ST may sound like the rejected title of a soap opera, but that’s because the fully written out name sounds even more awkward. You see, GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport (no, not the video game). ST stands for Sport Turismo. So that makes the entire name Gran Turismo Sport Sport Turismo.

Uncomfortable name aside, this is the version that costs the most of the three new additions. In terms of performance, this version is the same as the Sedan GTS, but you get quite a bit more luggage space in return.

All models can be ordered immediately. As you might expect from a Porsche, it does come with a hefty price tag. The Taycan 4 starts at €111,100, for the GTS you can certainly pay €154,900, and the GTS Sport Turismo will be in the showroom for €155,900.
